Christine Scanlan (HD 56)

Christine Scanlan State Representative Christine Scanlan (D-Summit County)

Representative Christine Scanlan is the Colorado State Representative for HD 56, which includes Eagle, Lake, and Summit Counties and mountain resort communities including Vail and Breckenridge. She is the House Majority Whip and is a member of the Business Affairs & Labor Committee and the Education Committee.

During the 2008 legislative session, Rep. Scanlan carried the Governor’s education reform bill, ushering in major changes to the state’s education and assessment system for all of Colorado’s preK-12 students. Her other legislative priorities include Interstate-70 traffic congestion and efforts to mitigate the devastation of the bark beetle onslaught. She continues to serve as Vice Chair of the Interim Committee on Wildfire Issues in Wild Land-Urban Interface Areas.

Rep. Scanlan is successful in her nonprofit career as the Development Officer for the Keystone Center, focusing on project development for the organization’s education programs. Prior to this role, she served as the organization’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Rep. Scanlan is also a member of the Colorado Tourism Board of Directors.

Rep. Scanlan is a Colorado native and graduate from Denver’s Regis University, with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in nonprofit organization management. She lives in the mountains with her husband, Tim, and their three daughters.
